Tuesday is always a day for new music stuff, and we’ve got a bunch of fun to announce today: Freelance Whales has just kicked off a North American Tour, and it’s going to be fully featured on Gowalla, with a sweet custom stamp for each concert stop. Additionally, when you check in at the the Freelance Whales concert in your town, you’ll receive a free b-side track from the band, as well as additional treats via email.

The fun doesn’t stop there, though: To coincide with the tour, Freelance Whales is calling on Gowalla users and fans to help make a video for their song Location. Gowalla is about exploring, discovering, and sharing remarkable things with friends and family, and the theme for the Location video promotion is for users to create a compilation of video clips and photos of interesting places they’ve been, fun times they’ve had with friends, special locations and events in their lives, mirroring the ways they use Gowalla—and using the song Location as the background music! Kind of like an extension of the video we made for SXSW using fun music from Matt & Kim. In fact, you might take another look at it if you want some inspiration for your own stab at the Location video.

The promotion will run for the duration of the North American concert tour. The band will then select their favorite video to feature on their official website and Facebook. As an added bonus, they’ll also reward the lucky video director with an autographed vinyl of the album Weathervanes, exclusive autographed copy of their split 7” with Foals, and official Freelance Whales moleskin notebook with a special personal message written by the band. The winner will also receive a Jawbone Jambox from Gowalla, and a $100 iTunes card (or equivalent if the winner is not in a country iTunes operates). Other memorable submissions will receive goodies as well, including t-shirts and iTunes cards. In fact, every video submission that falls within the spirit of the promotion should expect something fun in the mail from Gowalla!

So hit us with your best shot. You can grab Location from iTunes or on Amazon MP3, and then get after making your submission for the music video.
