Here in the U.S., we’re gearing up to stuff ourselves with us much food as possible on Thursday, while enjoying the company of friends and a little American football. Others will be running a race, watching a parade, or helping serve meals to the less fortunate. We hope it’s a special day for you wherever you find yourself on Thursday. 

This update, though, is about the day after Thanksgiving. U.S. retailers are getting ready for a big party when slashed prices and crazy deals will beckon you out of bed at a super-ungodly hour to get a jump on your Christmas shopping and revitalize the economy in one fell swoop. It’s a holiday tradition, no? 

We’re making it a bit more interesting this Black Friday: Friday only, we’re hiding $50 Amazon.com gift codes throughout the United States at various retail spots on Gowalla (think the usual suspects for Black Friday shopping: the mall, discount stores, etc.), and when you check in during the 200%-off madness, you just might find one! Cos whether you get to BigMart early enough to buy a 52” LED TV for three hundred bucks or not, we’d like you to have a shot at taking home something cool, either as a fun treat for yourself or to help with holiday shopping for your family.

So elbows out, people! We know you’re going out for Black Friday, so get your coat, make some strong coffee, and be sure to take Gowalla along for the fun.
